My niece is coming for a visit and I thought it would be fun to create a fun summer craft to beat the summer boredom blues. Using our Free Mom, I’m Bored printable bundle, you can create this jar in minutes!
At our house, If you say I’m Bored, my kids know I would be happy to assign a chore as there is always something to clean around here. I was thinking in the past I when my kids are bored I wanted a way to help encourage them to be independent and work on filling in the lazy days of summer with other things besides watching TV or using technology all the time.
The basics of an Mom! I’m Bored jar is, gather a bucket or box to fill with chores or activities that kids can do if they complain of being bored.
Our jar is actually full of over 100 different summer activities. There are 8 pages of activities to choose from!!
There are actually no chores in the jar. Unless they think baking is a chore, but for my girls they love it! There are a handful of activities where parents need to participate but hey, family time is a perfect way to beat boredom!
You can come up with your own ideas and add them to the jar too!! But to get started you will need a few supplies.
- Jar or box
- Free I’m Bored Activity Printables
To assemble: Cut out the activity ideas from the 8 pages of printables. This could a fun activity for your crafty kiddo who loves to cut paper!! Once all the activities are cut apart, I rolled them up and tossed them into the jar. You can fold them, or roll…you choose! Fill the jar with the activities.
Decorate the outside of the jar. I have included a circle label and decorative paper strip to attach together and tape around a jar or container. But you could always use vinyl like I did above too. But of course, that is only if you have a cutting machine.
Ta-do. You are done!! Now you have a summer full of activities to choose from. This is a great way to keeps the kids active and engaged with a ton of fun summer activities. Plus, it might save mom some time thinking of creative ways to fill the day!!
